2012 RGruppe Bergrennen

We’ve just arrived home from the 2012 rGruppe Bergrennen event at Snowshoe, West Virginia. As this was the first major East Coast RGruppe event, expectations were high and the weekend was a resounding success. Due to the proximity of major Government facilities (huge radio and telescope site it seems) cell coverage and Internet access were spotty at best. As a result, these blog posts are being made retrospectively, as the images are downloaded and sorted back here in real life 😉 Stay tuned for developments on this event post, but for now, enjoy a few images: – and the little …

PCA at the Speedway

Attended the PCA meeting at the Charlotte Motor Speedway last night – in the Speedway Club on the 6th floor, no less! The view was what you’d expect: (please excuse my taking advantage of any opportunity to photograph my wife) We had the restaurant to ourselves, and it made for a pleasant evening – I can only speak for my table, but good food, enjoyable company, and entertaining topics (motorcycles, lawn care, some sporting contest called ‘football’) made for a relaxed environment where I was once again a Porsche owner and Club member, over and above Shop owner and Service …

Mary Stuart Update

Today’s Mary Stuart update – post composites shop inspection: The initial surfacing work on one of the rear quarters has been completed! And, only FOUR areas need to be addressed prior to mold making. This is almost unheard of in our world (and makes our day around here!) You might notice the pen marks in the photos. You’ll likely observe the extremely pleasing curves and shapes of the historic Mary Stuart RSR prototype body. And here is the carbonmeister himself, working his magic (literally, it would seem…) More to come as this project develops!

993 Fuchs

We’ve been test fitting the Zuffenhaus Products 3-piece Fuchs-style Wheels on 993s today: This is an 8.0 inch fitment on the front of a 993 C2 with stock brakes and uprights. And the rear – These are fairly aggressive fitments – emphasizing the shape of the 993 body and fenders (hopefully in a way the factory failed to do!) The black 993 pictured is lowered significantly and has more negative camber than a stock example – it is what we consider a street/track set up, careful on speed bumps and driveways, but useable for daily commuting. Contrast that with a …

911RS Backdate Steering Wheel

Pictured above is the business end of THE SOLUTION for mounting the historic 380mm RS/RSR Steering Wheel (or the vintage 400mm for that matter) on the ’74-’89 911 steering column. Zuffenhaus Products has developed this 2-piece Hub assembly as part of our product catalogue specifically for backdate applications – now it is no longer necessary to become part of the legion of prototipo & accordian-style hub users when backdating your SC or Carrera! We’ll be adding this product to our webstore shortly, but thought you’d appreciate some photographs of the wheel/hub combo in the meantime: The pictures above show the …

H/H RSR.

Pictured above is a 911 that has quite a history with Zuffenhaus. It was, in fact, the first project to be taken on by the formalized racing & fabrication branch of our company. Through the years circumstance has brought Zuffenhaus and the H/H RSR together repeatedly. Our first involvement with this 911 occurred in 2005, preparing it to compete in the Targa Newfoundland with the fabrication of a full cage and associated safety equipment. It was a modest, blue 1981 SC at the time. The 911 returned from Newfoundland a crumpled mess – having rolled several times at high speed …

Support. (mired in IT land)

Upon our return after celebrating the anniversary of the Colonies’ Refusal to Pay British Taxes, we were greeted with the last (or else) of a notable list of 2012 IT issues. So, here are two quick shots of the Shop Floor, which to this point has only ever been helpful in the pursuit of our goals and accomplishments. . Thank you, floor, for your support. We’re looking forward to the end of the week, with computer upgrades behind us.

IN WITH THE NEW. 2012 Zuffenhaus Fuchs (-style 3-piece 17 inch wheels)

We are pleased to announce the all-new Zuffenhaus Fuchs-style wheel. Completely redesigned for 2012, this Version II wheel borrows no components from the original, but shares it’s DNA, as you can see for yourself in the image above. Like the game-changing first generation ZUF wheel, the Version II (shown on left in raw 6061T6 aluminum) bases its aesthetic mission on a properly-scaled, proportionally pleasant true 17inch center. Blind-fastened from the rear, proprietary “soft-lip” still in place, the new Zuffenhaus wheel continues the correct interpretation of the historical Fuchs sized for today’s tire options. Manufactured for Zuffenhaus by FIKSE, this new …
