We’ve ended up with some additional un allocated sets of calipers for 930 (or 911 hot rods using 930 trailing arms!) Rigorously tested and vigorously raced in Europe for several years, our 2.8RSR Calipers are now available stateside. These are available RIGHT NOW, if you want a set without the traditional made-to-order manufacturing run time. Two Weeks in a 1972 911: Rennsport Reunion V (Part III)
PART III | Bring it home *author’s note: while launching the new site, I realized I’d never posted the third part of the RRV drive in the ’72 911! Please excuse the delay, here’s the rest of the journey: click here for PART I click here for PART II Grand Canyon Normally I’m a planner. I map out my trip in excel, keep a running tabulation of expenses, mileage, etc. Accordingly, I’d made all the appropriate reservations and budgeting before I left. However, on Sunday night it had occurred to me that I’d never been to the Grand …
Old World Craft, Quality.
We were asked in class last night (you folks don’t take night classes to stay current on technologies and methods that affect your skill sets?!) if any of us were familiar with casting techniques. Of course I am, as a result of my background – but Zuffenhaus is as well. In addition to needing mold-making experience to design and execute the Zuffenhaus Mary Stuart RSR body panels, we also made the decision to base the Zuffenhaus 2.8RSR Calipers on castings, as per the originals. Although the alloy and post-pour techniques have improved over the years, the base process has been …
1974 RSR Endurance Calipers!
Ever seen any 1974 RSR endurance calipers? In person? We’ve finished up a cosmetic resurfacing and crossover line replacement on these historic pieces, and I thought you guys would appreciate some pictures before they are put back into service. Here they are on the Zuffenhaus conference table, prior to packing: :thumbs up:
964 AS BACK DATE PLATFORM Our visit to SVD got us thinking about the Zuffenhaus 964-based RSR that is now in assembly stage, as shown here: (please excuse the shop rag – the dust bunnies of our industry) The 964 is the ultimate back date platform – body panels and lines that do not stray far from the original pen but mechanical system developments that provide for chassis rigidity, functional climate controls, antilock brakes, and effective drivetrain right out of the box. SVD puts their signature on the 964 chassis as is well documented in the press – a synthesis …
With 4/15 rapidly approaching, it’s almost impossible not to reflect on the previous year. In that frame, I’d like to share some of my favorite snapshots of 2011 with the rest of you. Early in the year we were final testing the Zuffenhaus Products’ 2.8RSR Calipers – an extraordinary product, already well received in Europe. Here we had just given up attempting to test to destruction, having long before exceeded F1 hydraulic pressures, and decided to hang out and shoot random images. Welding. – we do a bit of that around here. Being an East Coast operation, we try to …

More testing. (Zuffenhaus Products 2.8RSR Caliper)
(this is an iPhone app test. How’d I do?) Here’s something a little off the beaten path for your local Porsche service shop: This is the second endurance testing session on the Brake Dyno. After two hours of abuse, we decided to go all-in and test the caliper to destruction – until we exceeded the maximum hydraulic pressure of the testing equipment without caliper failure. (We give up, time to put these things on a car and use them in anger.) In addition to continuing testing on the Zuffenhaus 2.8RSR Caliper as shown above, we’re building out inventory of peripherals …
Testing, again. (Zuffenhaus Products 2.8RSR Caliper)
MORE testing on the Zuffenhaus Products’ 2.8RSR Caliper – this time, something a bit more interesting than yawn FEA or static pressure tests. This is some top-secret stuff. The caliper is being tested on one of only 2 or 3 Brake Dynamometers in the US – at approximately 1300 degrees temperature – continuous hard braking through the life of a set of racing brake pads. Speed, Pressure, Temperature, and Torque data is being collected for analysis: We’ve agreed not to show photos of the testing rig itself, but thought you’d enjoy some of the action shots: While we were on …
