Work continues on the Zuffenhaus Products 18″ 3-piece RSR Center Lock Wheel center, as you can see in the video: if the video doesn’t show, click here Look for this product to debut on a handful of notable builds, including the Zuffenhaus Mary Stuart RSR project. In the meantime, here it is in digital format, followed by the prototype in process:
Center Locks!
Hello Porsche Center Locks. It’s now time to do those ’74 RSRs, 934 and 935 builds properly! These are Zuffenhaus Products Rear Center Lock Hubs for 930 Trailing Arms, fresh from getting their stub axle splines created. These are en route to drilling and Drive Pin installation, and final coating. Look for these in the marketplace in 2012.
More testing. (Zuffenhaus Products 2.8RSR Caliper)
(this is an iPhone app test. How’d I do?) Here’s something a little off the beaten path for your local Porsche service shop: This is the second endurance testing session on the Brake Dyno. After two hours of abuse, we decided to go all-in and test the caliper to destruction – until we exceeded the maximum hydraulic pressure of the testing equipment without caliper failure. (We give up, time to put these things on a car and use them in anger.) In addition to continuing testing on the Zuffenhaus 2.8RSR Caliper as shown above, we’re building out inventory of peripherals …
new [center lock] wheel prototyping, Mary Stuart RSR build.
Yes, I am the world’s worst blogger. Despite the excellent example John Glynn sets, I simply forget about this tool. So, once again I attempt to change my ways and offer you all this- a short clip of our 18inch RSR Center Lock wheel prototyping: This wheel is being developed as an alternative to the (now very old) original Center Lock wheels on vintage Porsches and will be constructed as a 3-piece wheel (the part above is the narrow version for cars with 9/11 inch flares) in the manner of our popular 17inch Fuchs-style 3-piece line. The new wheel will …
Testing, again. (Zuffenhaus Products 2.8RSR Caliper)
MORE testing on the Zuffenhaus Products’ 2.8RSR Caliper – this time, something a bit more interesting than yawn FEA or static pressure tests. This is some top-secret stuff. The caliper is being tested on one of only 2 or 3 Brake Dynamometers in the US – at approximately 1300 degrees temperature – continuous hard braking through the life of a set of racing brake pads. Speed, Pressure, Temperature, and Torque data is being collected for analysis: We’ve agreed not to show photos of the testing rig itself, but thought you’d enjoy some of the action shots: While we were on …
Techno Classica 2010
Well, it’s 3:52am on the last day of the Techno Classica 2010, and we (the US Zuffenhaus team) are having to depart a day early, leaving Europe in the capable hands of Leonard and Daan Stolk, our friends and counterparts in the Netherlands. It’s been a productive week. For those of you who haven’t been to Essen for Techno Classica, it is a huge vintage car event, full of Barrett Jackson-esque sales and PRI-style trade displays, with a swap meet and vendor hall thrown in. The Messe in Essen in which it is held is an extrodinarily large collection of …
